As a constant user of hearing aids to to exposure over the years in marine engine rooms (turbo charged diesel engines water makers and pumps runnning all the time, school shops will no sound absorbing marterial on the walls, I cannot agree more. I have spent more than the price of a new Savage over the years and progressed from analog to digital type aids. Seems like health insurance companies are unwilling to spend much money for their folks, I understand why, had 3 family members who had aids but couldn't be bothered with the hassle (and it is a hassle) of wearing them so they just sat in the dresser and they missed out on many of the sounds like of life. Seems like eyes can be corrected to good vision for the most part, worn out ears can only be made kinda good. Polar Pilot, understand aircrew members are also at risk. Hate to get the back seats on 727's/DC8/9s and any seat on a turboprop. When operating noisy equipment now, I open the battery door on the hearing aids and have custom fitted ear plugs. So do wear ear plugs even with stock pipes if there is any wind noise with your helmet or if you ride hatless. Max
